Let me just get some things out of the way here. I don’t know everything about leadership, managing a team, being the perfect boss. I’v made more mistakes than I care to count. I’v pissed people off on my teams. I have been prideful, overly confident in my abilities. Iv tried to play hero and know-it-all. I’m not some leadership guru.
But I have been through the trenches. I have led teams for the past decade. Some big, some small. I’v been the top 50 employee at 5 startups/scales ups. A few now valued at over $100M+.
I’v gotten promoted 5 times in the past 8 years. I became a chief executive by 29.
This is the advice I wish someone would have sat me down and taught me the 1st time I led a team.
This is for those that have been left to figure “it” out on your own. How to lead, manage your time, make decisions, build trust, set proper expectations, on and on and on. This is for those that find themselves asking “but how?” when faced with leading a team for the 1st time.
This is for those that are higher performers and want to lead a team some day, want more opportunity and want more responsibility in their careers and lives.
This is for those that want to fill in the gap of going from individual contributor to manager.
This is for those that want practical examples of what to do and not pie in the sky theory or fluff. If you want more theory or breakdown of the 10 attributes a leader possess, this isn/t for you. Those aren’t bad things. Trust me, Iv read dozens of books on them. But that’s not what this is for.
I want this to be the most practical 4 weeks you have ever been through.
I hope you will join the 100's that have already made the jump!
